Description: In the early 1960s, an attempt to impose Hindi sparked a student movement in Tamil Nadu, led by Chezhiyan. Students from several states participated in the agitation. Although the movement forced the government to temporarily withdraw its plans, other developments at the time hindered its overall progress. What we see here is how the same protest resurfaced when the government once again attempted to impose Hindi.
